How to use this tool

1
Click a country to paint it

The first click fills the country with the first palette color. Click the same country again to move to the next color; one more click after the last color clears it.

2
Track what you painted

The side panel lists every painted country with its swatch, plus counts of painted countries and colors used.

3
Export or reset

Download your list as CSV for reports and spreadsheets, or reset the map to start a fresh coloring.

What people use this tool for

Visited-countries maps

Paint every country you have traveled to and share a screenshot of your personal travel map.

Example: A backpacker colors 23 visited countries and posts the map on their blog.
Market and coverage maps

Color countries by market status β€” active, planned, unsupported β€” for a quick visual status board.

Example: A startup colors its operating countries green and expansion targets orange for a pitch deck.
Classroom geography

Let students color countries by continent, climate zone, or language family as an interactive exercise.

Example: A teacher has students color Spanish-speaking countries to visualize the language's reach.

How it's calculated

Country boundaries come from the Natural Earth 1:110m dataset. Painting is purely visual β€” no data is uploaded or stored; the CSV export contains only the country names and palette colors you assigned.

Frequently asked questions

How many colors are in the palette?

Ten distinct colors. Clicking a painted country cycles forward through the palette, and clicking past the last color clears the country back to neutral.

Where do the country boundaries come from?

The map uses the Natural Earth 1:110m dataset, a public-domain world boundary dataset widely used for thematic mapping.

Can I save my colored map?

You can export the list of painted countries as a CSV file. Take a screenshot of the map itself to keep the visual, or use the map printer tool for a printable version.

Why do some small countries seem hard to click?

At world zoom, tiny island nations are only a few pixels wide. Zoom in on the region first, then click the country to paint it.

Is my painted map stored online?

No. Everything stays in your browser β€” nothing is uploaded, and closing the page clears the map.
